Plenty of options for vegetarians, fun environment, fresh everything, and great staff. It is always busy, and for good reason. Recommended!

Love the Sushi House... Always great food and we've been there at least 20 times. We did have bad service once, that server had short term employment with them. Whenever we are on that side of town we usually eat there.

I stopped by the Sushi House last Thursday to treat myself after a long week in Cedar Rapids. I am from Council Bluffs and was in Cedar Rapids on business. I walk in and placed a to-go order of four rolls, spicy tuna, spicy crab(special), negiri, and the Manhattan Specialty Roll. I placed my order with the very nice hostess and my rolls were ready in about 10-15 minutes. Very fast compared to other sushi places that I have ordered from in the past. All of the rolls were delicious and fresh. The Manhattan roll was awesome. The sushi is a tad more expensive than what I am used to in Omaha, but the company paid for it, so I was cool with that. If I had to pay out of pocket, I wouldn't have gotten four rolls, maybe just a couple. When I'm in Cedar Rapids again, I am definitely stopping by the Sushi House to grab some sushi!

Always a pleasure here. I love the family owned feeling and hard working staff. The hot and sour soup is wonderful and the tea is always refreshing. We love this restaurant for its sushi also. We have had so many rolls and they never disappoint. I am also a sucker for the Tofu teriyaki.

Great restaurant! Ground pork, teriyaki boxes and dragon rolls are my favorite! The sushi masters there have more than 10 years experience of making sushi. Strongly recommended!

Best sushi/sashimi around town. Love coming here for their lunch boxes. The sushi box comes with a pretty large portion of food. Sushi, nigiri, salad, lots of fried vegetable tempura (that comes with a sauce to dip it in), and oranges. Pretty filling lunch for a good price. And my favorite, the sashimi box ... the best salmon sashimi I have ever tasted! Love the thick thunks of fatty goodness. Comes with a few types of sashimi, salad, california rolls, edamame (yum!), and oranges! FYI these lunch boxes come with a soup too. Second best food here - the Mandarin Stuffed Eggplant (in the Chinese food section). The eggplant is stuffed with shrimp i think .. maybe more things inside. Anyway, it's saucy and crispy!! (must eat right away for full effect). My husband loves the Pork Katsu Don and never fails to get this when he comes. Unfortunately it's only on the dinner menu now ... but this doesn't stop him to order it when he comes for lunch too. Pork Katsu ... with onions and eggs in a sweet .. saucy sauce .. over rice! Staff is nice, friendly. Great service. Decor makes the restaurant a peaceful, warm setting. And also, the chefs/sushi chef can carve up really cool designs with their oranges sometimes :).

I was very pleased with the sushi and I would eat here again if I came back to Cedar Rapids.

I love Sushi House! It is affordable, fast and most important, stunningly delicious. I've been here dozens of times over the years and have NEVER had an issue - no order mixups, no billing issues, no subpar service or food, no ungodly wait times. How many restaurants can you say that about? My go to is the vegetable curry, and while I'm not a sushi person myself, my husband and extended family rave about the sushi here. I am always eager to recommend Sushi House to visitors to the area, and have been thanked for the recommendation many times. One of the greatest places to dine in town.

Hands down best sushi place in the area. This is my go to! The dragon roll and Singapore noodles are my favorites.

The food seem to be fresh but the mats that were flying around our fresh sushi were quite disgusting. I did not get sick from eating here but if you like cleanliness you might want to try someplace else

We enjoy coming here when we are in the area. Sushi is good, love the miso soup and fried rice. Always friendly service. Fair prices.

I love their food! That being said the service has always left something to be desired. Most recently we arrived at 9pm to eat sushi in restaurant. Within 5 minutes the owner warned us to decide very soon since the sushi bar was closing. We were waiting for another person. We decided but the owner again warned us that the extra person might not get to order. This was 5 minutes later & our 3rd at the table arrived as the owner was issuing the warning. I understand closing times & sushi is typically not that time consuming to assemble. I've worked in restaurant management & it doesn't matter how good the food is if the service is annoying would you enjoy your meal? The meal was good, but vacuuming & spraying cleaners while I'm eating doesn't make for great atmosphere. I guess don't come later than 1 hour before stated closing.

It's the only place in town I'll eat sushi. I've been a fan for 10 years. Consistently good service and excellent hot and sour soup. We like to get take-out, too. Good stuff!

Amazing dinner there tonight. Everything perfect. Sushi house for 2 is incredible. Service is prompt and more than you could ever ask. I highly recommend their tempura selection as well.

I have now eaten here twice. Both times on Saturday at lunch. Both times the service has been bad. The first time I was dining with my sister. It took almost 15 minutes for someone to even take a drink order. Both of us ordered off the lunch menu. I had fried rice and my sister had something with California rolls. My food arrive in a reasonable time. My sister had to wait about 15 more minutes for her food. The server told me that was just the way things were at their restaurant. If you like to finish you food before your lunch companions get served then this is your kind of place. The second time I was also with my sister. This time it was 17.5 minutes for a drink order to be taken. Our food did come together since we ordered something to share. It was one of the boats. I don't recall the exact menu name. I'll given any restaurant 2 chances. The food wasn't good enough to justify the wait, especially considering it was not even close to busy.

Quite simply the best sushi house in CR. The veggie bento box is excellent and I have never left there hungry! I have eaten there about 3 times this past week and have received good service with great food quality. I can only comment on the sushi quality as I have not ordered from the Chinese menu. However, their miso soup is great (not too salty, even though traditional miso tends to be quite salty) and I loved their osuimono (clear soup). There is definitely a focus on good quality food, and the waitstaff is friendly! Excellent place for a business lunch or a date night!

Resteraunt is usually very good and I love the food but just recently got a chicken teriyaki and it definitely was pork katsu teriyaki that they brought me, when I was told it was chicken I explained it didn't taste like chicken at all and it didn't. I refused to eat it or take it home and they refused to remake it and also didn't want to take it off my tab until we really adamantly insisted. Not sure if it was just a bad day for them or not but usually the place is really good.

We love this place. Come back often but usually will avoid the dinner rush on Fridays and Saturdays. There is usually no problems being seated after 7:30pm. Never had anything bad, and the menu pricing allows you to sample many of the appetizers without breaking your budget. The Crab Rangoon, Hot and Sour Soup and Squid Salad are the best I have ever had anywhere! I have never been disappointed with anything ordered. I read some others complain about not getting meals arriving at the same time to the tables, but what they don't know is that is how many Asian restaurants serve, especially sushi restaurants. Oh yeah, the sushi has always been fresh and wonderfully presented. The service is always good with the owner frequently bringing out meals or stopping by to check on diners. The only bad thing I can say is that if you order carryout, check your order. Had a big order messed up even after checking in....but others a great place to eat.

Great spring rolls. Always get the tempura shrimp rolls and like the cold noodle appetizer with peanut sauce too. I usually get the pad thai or low mein. I've liked everything I've tried here so far.

I am spoiled by the fact that I lived really close to Japanese community in Los Angeles. Sushi is always around the corner and very fresh. By far after living in Cedar Rapids for a month and a half, this place hit sushi craving spot. Two thumb up for being a sushi house in Midwest . Way better than Oyama in my opinion.

An old friend picked this place for a 7:30 Wednesday dinner meetup and it was a great choice. I was seated quickly, and had a very attentive waitress, with the 'owner' stopping by occasionally to check on me/us (friend arrived a bit late). Ordered rangoons and spring rolls which arrived quickly (straight from the fryer, most likely), and then took a minute to select main course while catching up. We selected the honey roll, spicy tuna roll, and several others that were expertly crafted and well presented. The rolls were tight and held together well in my poorly-manipulated sticks, and the ingredients tasted fresh. Along with several varieties of sake (warm and chilled) and your typical Japanese beers, all of which were reasonably priced, we had a great dinner and were treated quite well for staying past their stated closing time of 9pm. The service was good to excellent (waitress wasn't far away when we finally stopped chatting to select our main course) and the price was spot-on compared to some other places I've been to in larger cities. Decor and overall style was tasteful, not too gaudy, and the layout allows for general privacy without being too secluded. Worth a try if you crave some fresh sushi/sashimi/nigiri.

Best sushi in CR, for what it's worth. Food comes quickly, is relatively well made, and they manage to make hot food and sushi quite well. Service is usually great. Every time I've gone with the exception of the last time I went, I've had great service. Specifically the young Asian man in his early to mid-20's is pretty rude. He should learn how to speak to people properly. A specific example was when he came by to refill our water, he held out his hand, and just said, "Water." He never smiled, and would remove food from the table without asking, and actually he removed the food by approaching the table, not saying a word, lightly pushing your hand out of the way and taking the plate. He also forgot silverware and chopsticks, when he harriedly dropped (yes DROPPED) the food on our table and walked off. He didn't circle back to see how things were going. We had to flag down a competent waiter to help us out. He really has no business being a waiter. The old woman we often see there was good at making things easier on him. Seriously though, great restaurant, just fire the jerk in his 20's.

This is the best sushi house in cedar rapids. It definitely beats Oyama in my opinion. The Sushi is cheap and the service is great! I come here every other day!

Love this restaurant. And not just for the sushi. Try this place at lunch. They have great lunch specials. I love the lunch boxes. A large square "plate" with 4 or 5 items plus soup. When we go for supper, I cant force myself to order anything besides the Mandarin Stuffed Eggplant.. Seafood somehow stuffed into bias cut eggplant in a dark delicious sauce. My Husband is a big fan of the Hot Braised Shrimp. My daughter loves the Pad Thai. The restaurant is small but set up well. Waiter service is friendly and they appreciate if you have your order ready. The waiter gave us a lucky $100 bill key chain the last time we were there.. Now thats a first!! The wait staff is very attentive.. Love the older lady who refills your water glass!!

Still the best sushi in the Cedar Rapids area by far. The service/atmosphere is a family owned business feeling. They treat you well and always keep your water full which is a necessity in case I accidentally swallow too much wasabi. The restaurant has nice decor. The presentation of the rolls are so beautiful that I almost don't want to eat them, but I know it tastes even better so I always end up giving into temptation. The food is consistently amazing and you can get plenty of things off the menu for a reasonable price. Over 3/4 of the rolls on their menu are $5 or less. The rolls have less pieces then most sushi restaurants I go to but the rolls are much bigger so it ends up being the same amount. They have a good selection of warm/cooked roll in case you don't like raw fish. They also serve a variety of Japanese and Chinese dishes if you aren't a fan of sushi but if you have only try sushi at buffets or prepackaged at your local grocery store then PLEASE try it here because you don't know what you are missing until you taste good sushi. CAUTION: Having a taste of good sushi can lead to life long sushi cravings...I know from a first hand experience. So last Sunday, my boyfriend and I ordered the Honey Roll, the Salmon Tempura Maki, the Spider Roll and the Spicy Tuna Crunch Roll (the special that night) along with Edamame (served warm). Not only did we leave stuffed (we could barely finish all the rolls), we only spend $26 which is cheap for two people eating good sushi. My favorite roll is the Honey Roll (tempura shrimp, squash, cream cheese and mayo) by far. Best part is it only $4.50!!!! I could order just four Honey Rolls and leave a happy woman. The other rolls were very good except the Spider Roll. The Spider Roll was ok, but I wouldn't get it again. The next time I am in the area, I am going to try their hot and sour soup which I hear is unforgettable.

The Best Sushi place in Cedar Rapids and would compete very well with any others around! Some amazing sushi and excellent Chinese food, make Sushi House one of the best spots in town. And in a landlocked place like Iowa, it is a very impressive find! The simple decor is just right for a place that is quite busy on any given night! Appetizers: A must try are the Volcano scallop! Sushi: King Tuna (off the menu) is amazing, and so is the Manhattan roll. The sashimi is also very good! Chinese: Almost anything on the menu

In a mood for some authentic Chinese food? Craving fresh Sushi/Sashimi? Come on down to Sushi House! Sushi House offers the freshest sashimi in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Don't like raw fish? No problem! There are plenty of delicious dishes on the menu. If you can't figure out what to order, just ask the wait staff for some recommendations or their favorite dishes. If you haven't tried the Volcano Scallops or Stuffed Eggplant, definitely order it! The stuffed eggplant contains shrimp and scallop. The Crab meat Ragoon is also good. As for the Sushi/Sashimi, the Honey roll and Sashimi Specials are great. Also the Spicy Mayo is definitely unique and yummy compared to other restaurants version of the sauce. And I am not just saying all of this because I recently started working here. There aren't any shortcuts taken and everything is prepared fresh. Delicious food for a reasonable price. That is what Sushi House offers.

Its ok food. Spent $35 on sushi trying out different ones and didn't feel that I got my moneys worth like I do at other places. Food was more bland then others also. I was really excited to try this place out cause of all the good reviews but disappointed after my visit. not saying I wont go back but not my first choice or even third choice at that. staff was very friendly tho and quick to refill drinks

Definitely not the best sushi in town, and the service is sorely lacking. Really the only reason I come back to Sushi House is because it's close to my moms and I like the snow mountain roll. The guy who is usually at the front counter is just plain rude. Yes, I get it, you want to look busy, but there is no need to be rude. Last night after placing a to-go order I sat down in one of the chairs to wait. He literally dropped my food on the counter and walked away. Um, is that mine? Apparently the look on my face showed my confusion and he says from 10 feet away "snow mountain roll!" like I'm bothering him. I just assumed the other items I'd order for me and mom were in there, and if they weren't I wasn't about to deal with the jerk about it. I promise not to bother you again, young man.

Our favorite Japanese restaurant in Cedar Rapids!! It's always busy at lunch and dinner. The food is always very fresh and oh so good. My currant favorite is the green dragon roll-avocado, rice and sweet potato on the inside. I love everything I've every tried there tho. I'm a vegetarian and there us plenty to choose from. My husband is a meat eater and he loves the food too.

Best sushi in town. I have tried many of their rolls and haven't been let down. For sushi, the price is just right. I grew up in Houston and have a small sense for what sushi should taste like too. Tastes fresh every time. For the fearful, I'd go with some of the traditional entrees which are also tasty and really good. The fried rice portions are huge for less than $7. I don't typically order fried rice when I go out because I can cook it at home but I'd make an exception here. The staff has always been friendly and never given me any issues.

Let's just say it isn't often that I have tipped the chef! This was for the Ginger Crispy Beef that I had tried here once. They have a great menu, be it the lunch special or the regular one. I have been here often for lunch and dinner - the quality of food has always been great. Service can be spotty though.

Tha bomb!!!!!! Get the volcano scallop! The wait staff isn't the most prompt but if u have patience, prepare for the best sushi and Chinese food for miles!

Nicole J.
The food here is amazing! I highly recommend Asian cuisine lovers come and enjoy the food. It is worth the price you pay. If you do not like sushi, they have more on the menu so there are a lot of options. The lunch menu is nice however the dinner menu is an encyclopedia. The staff I had both times I went were very helpful. I had a few questions and they were happy to answer them. The only thing I can mark down for is the space. I know it is a small building but there could be a little bit more space. It can seem crowded at and I've heard you may have to wait to get a seat. I've never waited longer than 2 minutes however, I may have just been lucky.

OK, met a friend there for the first time after hearing good reviews. The food was ok, but nothing real special. The service was attentive. But we had barely been there 1 hour and they rushed us out! We were finishing our wine when they brought the bill and they checked back at least 3 times to take the check and the minute I set my glass down empty, the gentleman reached between us and took all the glasses off the table without saying a word! Then our waitress came over and asked us to leave because they had a reservation for that table. Honestly, it was 1 hour and 5 minutes on a Friday night! No desire to go back.

I usually eat here at least once a week. I have never had an "average" meal here, it is always great and flavorful food. The service is quick and friendly, and their prices are extremely affordable. If you don't necessarily like Sushi, they have much more than that including traditional Chinese foods.
(5)
Erin M.
I am not going to write this comparing it to my favorite sushi places in California, because that would be unfair. However, it was surprisingly good for a landlocked state. I am impressed how they do quite well with what they have available. We were not fans of the specialty rolls or the fish, but I was highly satisfied with the basic rolls and also the unexpected. Rolls with tempura squash? Awesome! Not sushi, but were very tasty. Also, the Love Boat made me die from happiness. I have been missing avocado and it was a perfect dish of avocado and spicy tuna pieces. Service was wonderful and I am also looking forward to trying more of their unique rolls. We can't wait to return!

best sushi in the cedar rapids area...for iowa...this place is a godsend. not super impressed with the entree options, but the sushi is great. the service isn't the greatest, but it isn't bad enough for me not to come for the good sushi haha.

This place has the best sushi in town. It has really good chinese food too! Order the King Tuna (its off the menu, but amazing). Volcano Scallops is another favorite of mine.

I haven't been here in a few months, but the hostess recognized me right away on a busy Friday night. I was the first in my party to arrive, but she even remembered that I usually dine with my wife and daughter and got me a table in less than 10 minutes. We ordered a crunch roll and a honey roll, our favorites, and both were delicious. The Mandarin Stuffed Eggplant was equally tasty as usual. After seeing a recent trend in negative reviews here, I had to see for myself if they've fallen off a little. My conclusion is Sushi House is as reliable as ever for great food and service. We noticed the wait staff has not turned over in years, all the same faces as well as most of the sushi chefs, which is a good sign. I like that the wait staff will help with all of the tables in the area, not just "their" tables. This makes for higher efficiency and better overall service. The only thing we could figure out is Sushi House may be a victim of their own success. As word has spread about this wonderful little restaurant, they have gotten busier. And in the rush of a busy night waits can get longer and diners get crankier. We have always received very friendly service and the food is consistently excellent. Still our #1 restaurant in Cedar Rapids.

If you really want sushi and don't want to drive to Iowa City, then I guess this might satisfy your most base cravings. The staff was reasonably friendly, but the sushi was not the freshest or best made and I was too unimpressed to finish my meal. My husband didn't get a to-go box either. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra fifteen minutes to some of the better sushi places in Iowa City if you want to finish your meal.

One of the best places to eat at! Did you know they also serve Chinese food? yum! Fresh fish, attentive service, cute chef, what else could you ask for? :P

The potstickers are the best I've had!!! Other then that it's just like most of the place around Cedar Rapids, I did not dine in I got take out and the place seemed way to nice to be hidden in a crappy strip mall.

Had a fire dragon roll and soup. Was pretty good but not worth a 20 min drive. I asked for a spicy ass roll but it came out mild and underwhelming. I like konomi better

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Great sushi for the area, and we also liked the Yaki-Udon and General Tso's Chicken. I was excited to find this place in Iowa. Like others said, not the best I've ever had in my life, but hands-down the best I've tried in Cedar Rapids, IA.
(4)
Jessica W.
Sushi House is a reliable place. I usually stick to sushi here, although I did venture to the other offerings on the menu and tried their chicken teriyaki once, not so good, and our fried rice wasn't the tastiest. But I do like the atmosphere and the service has always been attentive but not overly so...nice happy medium. Down-to-earth place. I've seen the "sushi boats" and really want to get one sometime because the presentation is awesome!!
(3)
Elias C.
Although Sushi House now has some competition, it still remains the best sushi in Cedar Rapids. In fact, if you have frequently had sushi elsewhere, you will discover that it is on an equal par with the best that big cities such as San Francisco have to offer. Only sushi in Japan is better. There is not a bad dish on the menu and if your tastes run to Chinese food, you must try a dish from the extensive Chinese menu. Sushi House is also the best CHINESE restaurant in town.

I was surprised to find decent sushi in Iowa. Please, the emphasis is on the word, sushi. Sure there are decent everything (burgers, Chinese food...) in Iowa, but trying to find a good sushi joint here is like trying to find water in the Death Valley. You gotta just keep looking and hoping that every restaurant you try is not just a mirage (based on reviews). And when I am just about to give up hope, I think (I hope) I've found a little pool of salvation at the Sushi House. I had the sashimi bento with an order of Uni (sea urchin). The fish was a 7 piece salmon, tuna, snapper combination. It was average-plus (6-7/10, 10 being the best), but once again, I'm reminded that I'm land locked. It certainly matches if not beats the top 3 sushi places in Iowa city. The Uni is my litmus test. It takes a whole lot of courage to try it in the Midwest, because its like kissing on the first date, you either want to get naked or want to rinse your mouth out with rubbing alcohol (please do not do this -its toxic, that's what the EMT told me). So, the uni was sweet and was not off colored. I'm not ready to totally get naked, but certainly I wouldn't mind ordering it again. I don't know about the rest of the Indo-asian food at this place, but the quality of sushi has passed my test. Next time, I will return to wade a little longer in this pool of water with a bigger appetite. Overall, the prices were good. Looking around the establishment, 30-50% of the patrons were mostly Chinese, so its a mark of a good value. If you come to CR for the sushi, please Google a map of CR for a geography lesson. If you understand that CR is not near any large body of ocean, you might just have found a little piece of sushi paradise at the Sushi House. Note: Like what other reviews said, this location is in a strip mall and its not a super fancy place. So take the girl your want to marry, not the one you want to lie to.

This place was SO GOOD! We stopped in the middle of a ten-hour road trip. The sushi was plenty tasty and the service was polite and speedy. We were on our way in no time, very happy we had stopped. The Black Dragon roll was nice and spicy - the heat builds, so go slowly. The Alaska roll was soft and delish. Nigiri salmon was very generous and so so yummy. The smoked salmon nigiri had more wasabi than expected, but was still delicious. Total with tax and tip was in the $30s. We thought it was very reasonable. Whenever we're passing through Cedar Rapids, we will make it a point to stop again!

This is a good place for sushi. I was a sushu fan. However, after I ate a lot of sushi. I am tired of it, I found this kind of food is not THAT good. It is nothing wrong with sushi house, just some of my opinions of sushi. And Chinese dishes here are also pretty good.

Carla P.
The food is served creatively and always yummy. I don't particularly like their Chicken Teriyaki though, but that's okay because I like everything else in their menu. When I used to live closer, we would come about twice a week. The food is affordable and we always get full. The staff is very friendly and they already know us. I think this place has the best sushi in Iowa. Try the "Spicy Tuna Crunch" or "White Tuna Crunch".

Went to eat tonight with my husband. He ordered chicken teriyaki that come with white rice. So before he place the order said to server to substitute white rice with fried rice. According to menu book any substitution will charge $1. Then the server came & said not $1 but $2.50. She said that the menu book price was wrong. How supposed customer know if the price wrong or not. So we said forget it. This place have unethical business practice. You are in America follow American business practice rule, honor it then take all your menu book change it with the correct price. By the law they should honor it but don't. Seems like this place rip off your wallet. Thanks goodness the server came back & told us.

I really wanted to like this place since all my friends that live in town come here for food often. The prices are great for the amount of food you get. I ordered the sashimi sushi course for dinner that included 7 pieces of sashimi and it came with 4 pieces nigiri, an alaskan roll, miso soup and a salad. The reason I was so disappointed was that I found bones in my sashimi. What a disappointment. Try Oyama instead.

The only place worth eating sushi in Eastern Iowa! For reals. I used to steal away here from working in SW CR for their excellent lunch specials. Sushi House is the first place I tried uni (sea urchin) and the only place I would trust to have sushi fresh enough to veer away from standard sushi rolls. If you are into sushi at all, you will LOVE Sushi House and recommend all your friends to come here too. Yum!

Sushi House has been my favorite place in Cedar Rapids to get Sushi since they have opened. I believe it is the best value for the dollar, and provides a fresh quality product.

This place was much better a few years ago, and I keep going back in hopes that the bad occasions are just flukes, but the bad times have outweighed the good as of late (and girly mags tell me that's a good time to break up). The service is horrible with the exception of one or two of the waitresses. The sushi will be fresh and perfectly prepared some nights, but other nights it would be downright funky. Plus, the last couple of occasions I've gone, there's been a strong fishy smell in the restaurant. I swear it's not me.

I really can't believe I'm writing from a sushi restaurant in a strip mall in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Alas, it is true and it was one of the best deals I've seen. We're on a road trip and I found this place on Yelp! The srervice was outstanding. But, I am in Iowa and people are really friendly! (But I'm no fan of those Hawkeyes! Go Gophers!) The sushi box at lunch for $7.95 was filled with big pieces of vegetable and shrimp tempura, salad, 3pieces nigiri, a California roll and miso soup. Everything was at least average in taste and quality but long on portion size. I had the Dragon roll, which was $12.95. Very good too! A delightful surprise for lunch! I'd recommend it!

I used to really like this place and came here around once a month. The food is pretty good and reasonably priced (I would have given around 4 stars). The service was never spectacular, but some waitresses were really nice. However, what got to me was the management. The manager was rude to the customers and even worse to the servers (and cooks from what I hear). The last time I was there, the waitress made a little mistake and made ME PAY FOR IT. He yelled at her on the floor and didn't give me the price difference. That was the last straw and I refuse to go back. I don't care how good your food is if I can't enjoy my experience there.

Love the ginger crispy beef! Good sushi too!

I've had a lot of sushi. I live in la which has some of the best sushi places. Came to iowa for family and we ate here. For iowa the sushi is definitely good but its not the best. I would come here again if I wanted sushi in iowa but this is not a place I would crave. My baby cousin ordered the kid's meal and it was HUGE. Even I can probably barely finish the kids bento box so I think that was pretty worth it. The fish was not bad considering its imported from elsewhere. Some of the fish that aren't originally chewy become chewy like the tuna. The outer chunk of the fish is nice and soft but as you get towards the center it becomes chewy. I would say the most decent is the salmon. The portions aren't bad either. Overall pretty decent.

I have been here many times and the food has always been fabulous! It's worth the trip in.

Excellent vegetable sushi rolls, plenty of good options. Hot and Sour soup and seaweed salad is a must for me. Very reasonable prices, everything is exceptional.

I went to here when passing by Cedar Rapids. I've only tried Lunch Menu, but i really like their sushi and lunch special. It's relatively cheap, which means i can try more, will suggest to my friends.

In my opinion this is close to the best restaurant in Cedar Rapids. We started going when it first opened up and wondered if it would really make it on the west side of Cedar Rapids. Well it's done just that, by way of its excellent food. I'm not the biggest fan of Sushi, but if I go for lunch I usually get the Bento box with Sushi. Thankfully the menu expands beyond that, with a number of Chinese specialties. My favorite entree on the menu is the Ginger Crispy Beef. The flavor is phenomenal and its amazing how crispy those little pieces of beef really are.

Love the sushi house! They've got great food, and we go as frequently as we can. The service is generally good, though not extravagantly so - but it's definitely not bad. Still, one of our favorites.

Great spot for Japanese, one of the best in Iowa. Good portion size, excellent service and priced well for what you get. The Soft shell crab appetizer is one of the best I've had. sushi is cut generously and the Bento box is a big meal very reasonably priced.

this may be the best food of any restaurant (steakhouse, pizza, chinese, diner, mexican, italian, ...) in cedar rapids i was very impressed, i didn't even think i was in iowa anymore whenever i make it back to cr i insist on going here, zio johno's (for memories), hacienda, and donut land

I haven't been there in awhile, but this was my favorite place to get sushi in CR and ate there many times. Prices were great. Sushi House for 2 came out on a wooden boat and included salad, soup, sushi, and ice cream.

there are better sushi places in cedar rapids than this.. if you're looking for a quick lunch.. this is the place for you.. their sushi is good but not so tasty and delightfull.. so simple and ordinary.. serving is not that big... just enough.. sushi slices are not big compared with other sushi places in town..

Better than I expected! I'm in town from San Diego visiting family and we went for a late lunch the day I got in. Coming from the west coast where seafood can't get much fresher I was hesitant on how good it could possibly be. I was gladly surprised. I had my usual philly and spicy tuna rolls which were as good as back home. My father apparently tries something new everytime and I had the chance to try everything he ordered. I don't remember the names but there was squid which was good, eel which was very good, the angel roll was great, and a shrimp app that was also good. My stepmom always gets the stuffed eggplant and it too was excellent. The atmosphere was nice inside and the service was attentive. Its nice to know there's great sushi in Cedar Rapids! p.s. I rarely give 5 stars so this is about as good as it gets!

What a great asset for Cedar Rapids dinners. We have had visitors from as far away as Thailand and we took them to Sushi House. Reviews from the Asians was that this is as good or better than the food they get in their home country. If you are not into Sushi try the Chinese offerings, they are superior to any place else we have tried in town. Our Chamber should promote Sushi House as one of the finer ways to experience Cedar Rapids.

I loved Sushi House in CR-- they are incredibly friendly and helpful and the food tastes great! From what I've heard, the sushi is awesome (I don't eat sushi, but I love other Japanese foods). Everything is well prepared, and the atmosphere is nice. I would suggest it to anyone looking for an Asian restaurant. :)

The sushi rolls we had were delicious (not the best I've ever had), but I have to agree with some of the others that the service is lacking. Just as I put the last bite into my mouth, and was still chewing, they were already taking our plates away and getting us the bill since they obviously wanted to herd us out the door. I like to enjoy my meal and not feel rushed. I realize they need to make their money, but this situation will likely send me elsewhere in CR if I'm in the mood for sushi.

This is one of the better restaurants in Cedar Rapids. They have a wide variety of foods and have never had a bad experience. This is some of the best sushi and Thai food in town.

After reading the rave reviews of this restaurant, I felt the need to add one more. Sushi House is still one of my favorite restaurants in Cedar Rapids. It looks a bit modest on the outside, but once you are inside....get ready to enjoy!! The atmosphere is nice, and the food is great. I have not tried anything on the menu that I did not like. Compared to all the other sushi restaurants in town, this one ranks right up there in taste and is #1 in price. The value of this place is really unbelievable! I recommend the honey roll for those who like cooked sushi and spicy salmon for those who like raw. The ginger crispy beef and tempura appetizer are some other favorites of mine. You MUST check this restaurant out....I guarantee you will go back...soon!!

This place is great. The only thing I can knock it for is the location... a strip mall. Food is top notch. Service is attentive. And the prices are more than competitive. I dont mind the drive across town to eat here.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

(4)Jackie F.
Always a pleasure here. I love the family owned feeling and hard working staff. The hot and sour soup is wonderful and the tea is always refreshing. We love this restaurant for its sushi also. We have had so many rolls and they never disappoint. I am also a sucker for the Tofu teriyaki.
(5)Sunyang F.
Great restaurant! Ground pork, teriyaki boxes and dragon rolls are my favorite! The sushi masters there have more than 10 years experience of making sushi. Strongly recommended!
(5)Connie H.
(5)Matthew J.
I was very pleased with the sushi and I would eat here again if I came back to Cedar Rapids.
(4)Lindy M.
(5)Lacey M.
Hands down best sushi place in the area. This is my go to! The dragon roll and Singapore noodles are my favorites.
(5)Bill B.
The food seem to be fresh but the mats that were flying around our fresh sushi were quite disgusting. I did not get sick from eating here but if you like cleanliness you might want to try someplace else
(2)Cynthia S.
We enjoy coming here when we are in the area. Sushi is good, love the miso soup and fried rice. Always friendly service. Fair prices.
(5)Laura C.
(2)Rachel M.
It's the only place in town I'll eat sushi. I've been a fan for 10 years. Consistently good service and excellent hot and sour soup. We like to get take-out, too. Good stuff!
(4)Martin D.
Amazing dinner there tonight. Everything perfect. Sushi house for 2 is incredible. Service is prompt and more than you could ever ask. I highly recommend their tempura selection as well.
(5)Kenneth F.
(2)Keawe R.
(5)Leah B.
(4)Mike P.
(4)Jen A.
The most amazing sushi in Iowa! I love this place, we live 30 minutes away and I still drive over just to pick up sushi. Sharon is the absolute best!
(5)Mohamad A.
I love this place, Always packed which is a good sign, food always hot and fresh, sushi is made fast. Great atmosphere. and prices are reasonable.
(5)Brandon F.
Food and atmosphere both better than expected. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Will definitely recommend and go back.
(4)John W.
Great spring rolls. Always get the tempura shrimp rolls and like the cold noodle appetizer with peanut sauce too. I usually get the pad thai or low mein. I've liked everything I've tried here so far.
(5)Tony N.
I'm an out of towner and took a chance on this place. Not a huge selection of sushi but the flavor and appearance was one of the best that I have had. I would definitely go back.
(5)Rachel W.
Delicious! Although I have tried their sushi, the Chinese menu is my favorite. The crab rangoons are a must try! Fast seating, prompt service.

(4)Jeff W.
(4)Derek J.
(4)Scott H.
This is the best sushi house in cedar rapids. It definitely beats Oyama in my opinion. The Sushi is cheap and the service is great! I come here every other day!
(5)Michelle B.
Excellent sushi & great customer service. They went above and beyond to rectify a problem from the last time I went there. Definitely recommend!
(5)Stacey P.
(5)Rachel K.
(5)Rojith P.
(5)Ken W.
(5)Matthew H.
(3)Kate M.
(2)Linda B.
(5)Khiem L.
(5)Dan K.
Very good sushi, excellent appetizers. Was in the city on a business trip and will definitely come again.
(5)Alatkinam N.
Let's just say it isn't often that I have tipped the chef! This was for the Ginger Crispy Beef that I had tried here once. They have a great menu, be it the lunch special or the regular one. I have been here often for lunch and dinner - the quality of food has always been great. Service can be spotty though.
(4)Travis M.
Tha bomb!!!!!! Get the volcano scallop! The wait staff isn't the most prompt but if u have patience, prepare for the best sushi and Chinese food for miles!
(5)Nicole J.
(4)Cindy R.
(1)Brenda S.
I usually eat here at least once a week. I have never had an "average" meal here, it is always great and flavorful food. The service is quick and friendly, and their prices are extremely affordable. If you don't necessarily like Sushi, they have much more than that including traditional Chinese foods.
(5)Erin M.
(4)Carol C.
best sushi in the cedar rapids area...for iowa...this place is a godsend. not super impressed with the entree options, but the sushi is great. the service isn't the greatest, but it isn't bad enough for me not to come for the good sushi haha.
(4)Olie R.
This place has the best sushi in town. It has really good chinese food too! Order the King Tuna (its off the menu, but amazing). Volcano Scallops is another favorite of mine.
(5)Ed F.
(5)Katherine C.

(5)Daniel L.

(5)Chad Z.
I haven't been there in awhile, but this was my favorite place to get sushi in CR and ate there many times. Prices were great. Sushi House for 2 came out on a wooden boat and included salad, soup, sushi, and ice cream.
(5)Al L.
there are better sushi places in cedar rapids than this.. if you're looking for a quick lunch.. this is the place for you.. their sushi is good but not so tasty and delightfull.. so simple and ordinary.. serving is not that big... just enough.. sushi slices are not big compared with other sushi places in town..

(4)Stephanie S.
(5)Shannon K.
This place is great. The only thing I can knock it for is the location... a strip mall. Food is top notch. Service is attentive. And the prices are more than competitive. I dont mind the drive across town to eat here.
